About this deal

At first glance you'd be forgiven for thinking the Samsung Galaxy S7 looks almost identical to the Galaxy S6. The North American version gets a slightly less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core, needed because it supports crucial LTE bands that the Exynos does not. However, rather than have two S7 phones that are the same size, the S7 Edge is now much bigger, coming in at a 5. From top tier specs, to an impressive new camera and a refined design there’s almost nothing that this phone can’t do.

The screen is larger than the Galaxy S6 Edge, yet somehow the phone doesn't feel too much bigger in the hand. But if your budget can't stretch to Samsung's latest smartphones (they are rather expensive) the Galaxy S7 Edge is still a strong choice. Benchmarking indicates the Snapdragon 820 is more powerful than the Exynos 8890, particularly its graphics power. It's amazing to think that, two years after LG brought out the first mainstream QHD phone, we still don't have any dedicated content that can be viewed at this resolution. View image in fullscreen The back glass is now rounded at the edges, which makes it very nice to hold. Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge feature larger and more powerful batteries, so people can enjoy almost a full day of using the device without worrying about running out of power. If you've taken the phone for a plunge in the bath, you'll need to dry the charging port before plugging in. USB Type C's mainstream debut on the Chromebook Pixel 2 and 2015 Macbook happened almost a year ago, and Type C phones started hitting US soil almost seven months ago. It takes the much-improved, premium design from the Galaxy S6 and reinstates a few features from the Galaxy S5 that were shockingly missing from its successor. Between the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, approximately 100,000 devices were sold within two days of the official launch in South Korea.

As someone who uses my phone on the subway a lot, I've been raging for years about phone size bloat—how smartphones are getting wider and wider, making them harder to use with one hand. If you're a big mobile gamer, want to put your phone on a professional camera mount, or want to use FaceTime, well, no S7 for you.I like to use the controls of Asphalt 8 to check for responsiveness, and the S7 is as smooth as butter—as you'd expect. The bottom houses the headphone socket, another microphone, a speaker and a micro USB port for charging.

For me, this is a plus – it feels better pressing the Galaxy S7’s home button than the iPhone 6S’s – but a couple of the TrustedReviews team think otherwise. The removable battery isn't making a comeback; it's firmly fixed in place on this latest Galaxy phone. The power/lock key on the right and volume keys on the left also fall nicely under thumb and finger, although you'll still have to juggle the S7 a bit to reach the fingerprint scanner, which is embedded under the physical home key. The Upday social news aggregator panel on the homescreen (which replaced Flipboard on earlier Samsung phones) can be turned off.Only reviews that feature the label "Verified Review" have been checked to ensure that the author actually used or purchased the product. My only gripe with the display on the Samsung Galaxy S7 is that, in sunny conditions, it can be quite hard to read – certainly more so than the LCD panel on the iPhone 6S. Originally specializing in phones, tablets and wearables, John is now TechRadar's resident automotive expert, reviewing the latest and greatest EVs and PHEVs on the market. The only major quibble I have with the S7’s design – apart from its overall slipperiness – is its fingerprint sensor. inch display, there’s the Galaxy S7 Edge if you want something bigger, and it’s refreshing to have a flagship phone that feels this compact and easy to hold.
